About

Hi! I’m Trevor Maurice, owner and author of this website. You might know me from www.learnclassicalguitar.com and my other sites about classical guitar. I really appreciate you taking the time to look over my site. I hope you find it both interesting and helpful…

I’ve been involved in playing guitar (mainly classical) for longer than I care to remember and have also taught the instrument for many years. I am teacher trained, having a Diploma of Education (Majoring in music). It’s been my dream for a long time now to build  quality websites for the classical guitar that is of use to anyone even slightly interested in this beautiful instrument.

Indeed, I feel passionate about the guitar as you probably do and I’m sure you’ll agree with the famous Segovia who once said…

Among God’s creatures two, the dog and the guitar, have taken all the sizes and all the shapes, in order not to be separated from the man.

Now that’s passion!

So anyway, please take advantage of the free lessons and other material :)

I appreciate the site and especially the detail that goes into the sheet music, so the fretting and fingering is all completely specified. I would like to some pieces outside of strictly classical (jazz, folk, pop, country, etc.) with this level of detail at the late beginner and early intermediate level. I would also like to see some easier pieces that move up the neck, even if just sight reading exercises. My fingers don't recognize anything higher than the fourth or fifth fret, since I can't find anything to play on the higher frets that I can handle; I have to learn by playing, not books or flash cards. Suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for your efforts and dedication to the classical guitar. I have been playing for about 10 years. When I started, I was determined to learn to read music and play the guitar by notes and have progressed to playing songs off of sheet music. I still have a long ways to go and enjoy the beautiful sound from the guitar. Keep up the good work.

Hi Trevor, I’ve played guitar (by ear) for several years without substancial improvment untill I’ve discovered your site from Youtube. Since that I’ve been doing some effort to read the sheet music (the TAB also helps to solve some doubts)

I really like all the cool stuff you’ve added to help people World Wide learn Classic Guitar (best site ever)
I’ve also appreciated you’re adding music for different levels so I can get to learn those music that better fit my current skills.

Thanks for helping us improve our so loved guitar playing.

I am 69 year old and is playing the classical guitar from age of 30, although still not perfect. I admire you as a great teacher who likes to encourage and give free assitance to potential guitar fans. Your style of teaching and playing is the besr I saw. Thanks for all the assistance and wish you all success.

I am 63years of age and have been playing the guitar on and off since I was 16. I was not privileged to have had any formal musical training, so I cannot read music. I however got hooked on your program about 6 months ago and downloaded many of your videos. I practice from these videos and mastered three of them already. It gave me new perspective and I value it very much.

    Trevor,
This is really a great presentation of the BASICS for Music Theory. Now I have to go back and re-evaluate my own teaching methods…I can see that I will adopt some of your concepts to supplement my own…you have a unique approach to clarifying the BASICS and hopefully we will all be able to expand our knowledge base in the full realm of Music Theory. Thanks

I stumbled upon your site about 1 1/2 years ago. I had about 2 years of guitar lessons mainly to play classical and chord melody. I had played the Clarinet for over 60 years and wanted to return to guitar now that I have the time.

I started practicing all your free music and have printed them all out and have progressed through them all. Some I can now play at preformance speed. As I am nearly 68, my music falters as my mind and fingers sometime work independently of each other. I practice several hours each day and leave my guitar up and ready to go. I cannot enter my living room without sitting down for a session.

Thank you Maurice for hosting such a wonderful site. I love playing all the music you have provided me. I may not be a performer, but I love playing and my husband thinks I am amazing. God bless you for keeping me involved in the most beautiful instrument God designed and man crafted.
